The 9th Annual Linden
Tree Student Art Show
Fall 2008
Who: All current Linden Tree adult colored pencil students, along with those who have taken classes here within this calendar year.
What: A chance for students to have their work displayed along with that of their peers with no entry fee or jurying process. There will be a “people’s choice” type ballot, with the top three winners in each category receiving ribbons.
When: Opening Reception will be Sunday, _________from 2 – 4 pm. The show will continue to hang in the studio through Sunday, __________.
Where: In the gallery of The Linden Tree Fine Art Studio (upstairs), 543 North Main St. in North Canton.
Why: There are presently 85 adult students attending classes at The Linden Tree. While students see the work being done by others within their own class, they rarely have a chance to view the work done by those in other classes. Seeing each other’s work is inspirational to all of the students, gives reinforcement to the learning process and often provides creative ideas. I strongly encourage all students to participate!
How: PLEASE CAREFULLY READ AND FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS:
Each student may submit one completed drawing, which must be either matted or framed. (Framed work is preferred, as it is easier to hang, but unframed work which has been matted will be accepted. However, due to my own time restrictions, if a piece is not already either matted or framed, I would recommend you take it to a professional frame shop to ensure that it will be ready by the deadline.) Entries are to be submitted in one of the following categories, according to when the drawing was completed:
Beginner – Student has taken classes here for one year or less, with no prior formal instruction in art.
Intermediate – Student has taken classes here for more than one year but no more than 3 years, or, has taken classes here for less than one year AND has had prior formal instruction in art.
Advanced – Student has taken classes here for more than 3 years, or has taken classes for one to three years AND has had prior formal instruction in art.
Working Artist – Student is actively working at marketing his or her colored pencil artwork, either in the form of directly selling originals, prints, cards, etc., or is seeking commissions. Or, the student has had work accepted into juried exhibitions (such as The Little Art Gallery’s May Show, CPSA’s Explore This!, one of the CPSA International Exhibitions, Stark County Artist’s Exhibition at the Massillon Museum, etc.) within the past five years.

It is preferred that drawings submitted to one of our previous student shows not be re-submitted. Submitted drawings must be labeled on the back upper left hand corner with student’s name, address, phone number, and category. (Drawings not labeled, or incompletely labeled, will not be accepted.) Work may be dropped off at the studio at any time during business hours (please call to confirm a drop-off time if it is something other than your regular class time), but MUST be received by ______________. Work may be picked up as soon as practical after the conclusion of the show.
