About the Artist
Linda Faulkner has a deep love for nature which found expression through drawing at a young age. A life long fascination with creatures of all descriptions has resulted in a concentration in animal studies and portraits. Linda works in all drawing medium including graphite, pen, silverpoint, colored pencil and charcoal as well as the occasional use of watercolor. Linda works strictly from her own field sketches and photographs believing that time spent in the field studying her subjects is the best way to get to know and understand them. She believes that each animal has its own characteristics and personality and so she doesnt just draw an animal, but draws that particular animal. Love and respect for all creatures and the habitat that we share together are a great motivating factor behind Lindas work. She is deeply concerned about preserving the natural and wild places that are left so that generations to come may know and enjoy the wonderful creation we have been given
Linda has studied the work of Raymond Harris-Ching, Robert Bateman, Bruno Liljefors and Pierre Bonnard and find them to be very influential to her.
Linda has worked as a private drawing instructor at The Linden Tree Fine Art Studio since 1989. She has been accepting commissions for pet and animal portraits for 20 years. Her work has been accepted into numerous juried shows including The Akron Society of Artists Grand Exhibition and The Colored Pencil Society of Americas Annual International Exhibitions. She has won awards at The Little Art Gallerys Annual May Show in North Canton and an Honorable Mention in the annual Artists Magazine competition.
