This is an updated version of the introductory level colored pencil classes developed and taught by Linden Tree owner, Amy Lindenberger, since 1984. Cathie Fithian, an artist and fellow Linden Tree instructor, is now assuming the teaching duties of this class; Amy will continue to teach Advanced Level colored pencil students.

COLORED PENCIL DRAWING FOR BEGINNING LEVEL students serves as a broad introduction to graphite drawing and colored pencil techniques. The graphite drawing portion of the course includes the concepts of contour drawing, upside down drawing, and negative space, as well as understanding of light/shadow, various degrees of pencil hardness, and control of shading. The colored pencil portion of the course explores limited color theory and basic concepts of color layering and blending. The course ends with a 3-week individual project so that the students may have a completed piece to hang or give as a gift. Class fee is $130 plus any materials (approx. $30 maximum).

COLORED PENCIL DRAWING FOR INTERMEDIATE LEVEL students picks up where the beginning level leaves off; students work on the refining of their abilities to see and recreate subtle differences in values, create a colored wheel for colored pencil, and further their experience in colored pencil with work on a project of their own choosing.

Monday, 10 am – 12:30 a.m. FIRST CLASS: September 15
Wednesday, 6:30 – 9 p.m. FIRST CLASS: September 17

Payment of the deposit or full class fee along with this Registration form will reserve your spot in class. However, once the deposit or full payment is made, this money is NOT REFUNDABLE. If you pay this money to reserve your spot in class and discover that you will not be able to attend classes this session, the instructor will work with you on an alternate solution; payments are not refundable except in the event that the instructor would need to cancel an eight-week session for some reason.
